Mum 1954 by helenhall

Mum 1954

I only had a very tatty contact print of this - it is about 2cm square. Mum is in her early thirties here and my father not on the scene at all. I love this because she is wearing a broach which she continued to wear for atleast another 40 years until it became too fiddly for her to fasten. It is a very unusual broach. I wonder where she got it, who gave it to her, and why it meant so much to her. I wonder why I never asked!
you look so much like your mum!

Another lovely picture of your beautiful Mum! Old photos are such wonderful treasures. Perhaps one of your relatives could solve the mystery for you about the treasured piece of jewelry.

@janetb we never saw a lot of my Mums side of the family. But at Uncles funeral last week I have renewed a couple of connections. Thank you for your kind words.

Lovely shot of your gorgeous Mum. That brooch does seem to be a mystery that needs solving. I too have so many questions to my Mum who passed away two years ago. Why does one think about all these issues when it is too late. do you know what happened to the brooch after she passed away?

Oh yes, questions come to us when no one answers them. It hurts so much.

A wonderful picture that reminds me of Audrey Hepburn. The questions we think of after they are gone...I have several for both of my dearly departed mom and dad.

@janetb @ludwigsdiana @bokehdot I showed my Dad this picture at the weekend, and he immediately mentioned the broach - wondering where it now is. He said that his brothers wife had given it to mum (and that he had taken this picture himself - so it was not, as I had thought, before he knew her). She died young, and very soon afterwards.

@helenhall I am happy that the mystery is solved. Although, now the question is about its current whereabouts. Hopefully, you’ll get the answer to that question someday, too. Thank you very much for the update, and I do hope that you are doing well.
