favourite wooden bowl - revealed

Moving swiftly on from yesterday's confessions, I give you not a corner, but the whole of my favourite wooden bowl, I much prefer the many corners and edges that I lined up in macro mode, but after a couple of requests, and because it is late, and it fits the square, and my other options just haven't quite materialised, here it is.

Paying this much attention to the object, I realise that I have not cared for it as I should. As with everything else in my house, it only brings pleasure if it has a function and so gets regular use for various dry food stuffs. I think perhaps I should have oiled it to keep in better condition. Anyone know what I should use?
I would just use furniture oil actually - it gets absorbed pretty easily so if you put some nuts in this dish they wouldn't last of furniture oil! I hope!

If you use it for food, try some olive oil. It would probably soak right in.

Nice wooden bowl, Helen! I wasn't sure about what oil to use on wooden bowls so I googled it...mineral oil and flax seed oil were suggested. :-)

Such a beautifully made bowl. A nice 'flow' about it. I can see why it's your favourite?

Lovely bowl. I like the fact that it is used regularly. Any wear and tear on it just shows how loved and popular it is.

@maggiemae @moonmtn @gaylewood many thanks for all of your advice on the upkeep of the bowl. I must now take action and give it some oil. I have some window sills that should also have been oiled.

Well that's a nice looking bowl! Very nice - and you've already obtained advice but I would definitely use an edible oil since you use it for food...

Another option is linseed oil - very natural!

Haha -- I'm working backward but see what you've done with your mystery. Clever, and both images work well.
