There is work to be done. A list to accomplish and I could spend all day messing around with my photos. Is there a support club for this kind of thing?
I'm off to Camera club this evening. I'm just trying it out, to see if I can overcome some barriers and perhaps join in. Last week I visited for the fist time. The talk on travel photography was interesting, but for the most part, anxiousness got the better of me - I got lost going there
and left the building at the end through the wrong door - thereby entering into a school courtyard with no access back, having been rescued, I then promptly got even more lost coming home. Additionally, I found myself rummaging in a coat pocket at the coffee break to show someone the camera I used, panicking because it had gone missing, and then being told by the perplexed coat owner that I had my hand in her coat pocket. Not only that, I left a coffee cup on the same person's chair preventing her from sitting down at the end of the break.
You see, I am quite fearful of these situations and as a consequence, you could say that things had gone a little askew - rather like this bridge.
No idea why the bridge is askew. It just happened as I was thinking about leading lines and trying to fit the curved rail into the scene, oh, and hoping someone would walk into the frame. That someone looked so small and insignificant when he came, that I thought a spot of selective colour might help to tease him into significance.
Sorry Helen but your narrative made me smile ..... it's the kind of situation I have nightmares about....
I hope you eventually enjoy going to your camera club.
Your photo is an interesting POV & the s/c works well on the tiny person !!!
I love this photo and the quirky angle. Fav. I do hope you enjoy camera club and being with other fellow photographers. I love our club as it’s such fun. Now you know the way and which door not to use it’ll be easier.
I like this tilting of the steps and bridge with the selective colour on the pedestrian.
Good luck this evening. You have more courage than me, joining a camera club. They are lucky to have you. Your narrative made me smile, especially the getting lost - that's me too!
haha oh i did so enjoy your narrative, helen. a chapter of accidents, one might say. i do hope you'll let us know how it goes if you go back. i went twice to our local one but didn't return ... just felt that everyone was far too knowledgeable and technical and i couldn't understand much of what they were saying. my failing rather than theirs ... i then found 365 and realised that was what i was looking for, but i would love to have a local bunch of 365-ers to do photo walks etc with ... meanwhile, more importantly, i really like your tilt here, and b&w is the perfect choice. i like the contrasts of sharp lines and curves . oh, and if you find that support group for photo editing junkies, i'd probably best join
Awww Helen, I feel for you. I like the angle and the geometry in this picture and both the shot and story go together so well. I hope it was better this week.
I so hope tonight's meeting went better then the last one but I must say your story made me smile. Love the quirky pov on this, good choice to use the sc too
Your activity sounds a bit like Frank Spencer - if you know that program! Hilarious and I do the same thing at times - get all tied up with the vacuum cleaner cord, get lost, panic, but in the end it is just funny!
@maggiemae@suzanne234@stephanies@pistache@adi314@flowerfairyann@dide well thank you all for you your sympathies. I returned to night and found it very interesting. More to the point, I found it without getting lost, avoided any faux pas, exited by the correct door and although I still got lost coming back, I managed a shorter detour!
@dizzyd thank you Helen, my comment above applies to you too. Was much more at ease this evening. @lsquared your comment is most appreciated @graemestevens I'm pretty cool with off kilter. Thank you. @carolmw thank you kindly
I had to smile when reading your experiences before the decisive shot. I feel a subtle irony that I like. Sometimes I may have similar adjustment difficulties in "everyday life".
The bow in the photo - great consequence!
I can relate to your story. As for the view askew, maybe it 'just happened' because when vertical as the architect intended, symmetric constructions are as stolid as they are solid.
@jerome I'm always pleased to raise a smile. Thank you for your appreciation of the words and the consequential bow that I strived to fit in. @taffy strange how many people, who I imagine to be so confident, are relating to my tale of the camera club! Glad you liked the image. I always appreciate your comments. @haskar thank you for your encouragement @fotoblah I think, maybe you are right @overalvandaan thank you - yes I think I will give the club a proper try
