So I made it to the Camera Club last night (as an observer) and there was a competition on Reflections. The judge talked his way through forty or so submissions from members before deciding on a beautiful reflected landscape scene from the Lake District as the winner.
I caught some reflections myself whilst out this afternoon, and whilst deciding what to post, I was imagining his critique as I looked at each one. As he was chastising me for not including a little more in the frame here and a little less there, I wanted to answer back and explain how that would not have been possible otherwise I would have done it! So, those ones got put to one side despite my enjoyment of the reflections. I really have no idea how he would have responded to this - since there is nothing shouting out at me - I decided to stick with it.
On reflection though, perhaps it is neither here nor there. Not completely abstract, but not enough interest in the subject. Who knows ?
The interesting thing though is- before I saw who took it, I knew it was yours! I like it- I think the composition is spot-on and it doesn't necessarily have to be completely abstract to be an abstract.
viewing on black gives a pleasing containment. i really like the tilt, the lines and the way the sage green block top left is echoed in the feathery hints in the water. as you say, too recognisable to be abstract imho, but, for me, plenty of interest in the subject and the shapes
