The portraits of me theme for this week is 'altered perspective'. I was out on Monday watching this heron, as it flew from one tree to get a better vantage point perched high up on this dead tree. With a 360 view - the winding river below, the large meadow to the side, and the whole of the country park beyond, the church on the hillside and the many arched stone bridge downstream - I thought it would be rather good to see the world from his perspective. So I just climbed up for a little look. I must admit, I was rather alarmed to find my perspective altered in more ways than one.
His beak looks pretty big and you look pretty small. Thankfully, as he looks out over his kingdom, he hasn't seen you. Otherwise you could be lunch! Great edit and a really fun photo.
you guys are putting to shame my last year's feeble efforts at this challenge. :-P this is a great idea, Helen. i should like to say the execution was flawless, however, this is what i was talking about when i was doing the challenge last year as i noticed right away the lighting on you and on the tree.
@summerfield there are many flaws - I am under no illusion. Yes, the light is coming from different directions - I removed the heavy tree branch reflections on my legs but my dedication to the cause often reaches its boundaries before I achieve the best result. Best to keep going and move on - sometimes. Oh, and you were the inspirationfor taking this on in the first place. no feeble efforts at all.
