I can't begin to tell you how simultaneously delightful and frustrating it is to be surrounded by puffins popping over the cliff edge from all directions, with their mouths full of fish eels and immediately descending down a hole to feed the littluns. There is just no knowing where they might zoom in to land with their comical dangling feet, and the camera lens ends up pointing left, right, centre, up, and down all within a few seconds and to no avail. That is if you are me, at least!
The sun was scorching hot in the middle of the day as we clambered over the rocks from the boat to spend a couple of hours on the largest of the Treshnish Islands. I took this, into the sun, from the bottom of the cliff, before we clambered up to be at close and intimate range with these most entertaining of birds. Probably the best two hours of the holiday.
wow! what a capture, Helen. i was thinking goats? lambs? so to not kill myself with suspense, i had to read your blurb. and then the understanding: ahhhhh! makes sense. aces!
@jyokota you would, I am sure love it. There was a group of serious photographers on our boat (with all the kit that intimidates me) and they had chartered a special boat to come and pick them up in the evening, so that they could have six hours photographing the birds. I think if I had been there six hours, I might have got a few decent shots!
Thank you so much for popping by.
