These guillimots were gathering en-masse on a large rock off one of the Treshnish Islands near Mull when we visited 10 days ago.
This is my response to the 52 week challenge this week (no one has noticed that I have missed one out have they?)
Vision: Flattery
They say imitation is the highest form; so, past or present; choose your favourite master photographer and imitate their art or technique.
I feel a little embarrassed posting this since it by no means reaches the standard, but it is a genuine attempt to go about editing a photo in the style of 365'er Jerome who's work I greatly admire.
Although his work featured many photos of his beloved mountains, whatever the subject, he always treated it with the utmost respect, and edited meticulously with great skill and creativity in order to bring out the essence of what he wanted to convey. There was never anything superfluous in his images.
So, I picked one from my week away that I felt would benefit from this approach and this is what I came up with. Of course, dear Jerome would have started off with an image which was much more carefully framed and more technically solid. And then he would have spent many hours trying this and that until he was happy with the emotion and message that he wanted to convey.
Me, on the other hand, am settling for a single hour, with limited editing skills, although I did do a lot of trying this and that and adding and taking away until I felt happy enough that I had done what I can.
If you are still out there looking in on 365 dear Jerome, forgive me for this poor imitation, but know that you inspired me.
@summerfield Thanks for your kind words, Vikki. I miss my mountains too. But there is the imagination... I close my eyes and travel with the summer wind... to the peaks... very close to the sky and the clouds...
I don't think anyone is listening to this poor bird shouting, he only seems to have the attention of one guillemot
Your lines touch me a lot. They are from a special person whom I really appreciate.
