As a youngster I really enjoyed painting and for a while entertained the notion of being good at art. On one ocassion I produced a painted copy of a photograph from the educational weekly magazine that we had delivered, called 'pictorial knowledge'. Pictorial knowledge was Dad's answer to our request for comics!
The photograph was of a market scene much like this one taken at Bedford market this weekend.
My father, unusually, took a shine to my work and sort of framed it in later years - even hanging it on the wall for a short while. One of the very rare affirmative gestures that I can remember from my teenage years which had a big impact on me, even though (or perhaps because) all I could see were the flaws in my reproduction.
Well as this photograph was rather spoiled by an irretrievably overexposed area in the animated ladies face, I decided to take to it with photoshop in the style of my painting - just for fun.
Difficult light here with the outside bright light and the inside canopy light but you can still see so well! We were only allowed the "Classics' when it came to comics!
Your creative flair shows in all of your photographs...... this is an interesting image too
