Between you, me and the gatepost .... by helenhall

Between you, me and the gatepost ....

...I feel that this garden gate is in need of a little tlc. Perhaps the man in the white van that drew up outside the house as I was passing by, and putting me in a similar position to yesterday, was arriving to do just that. I somehow doubt it. I quickly framed my shot and left as though it was perfectly normal to photograph a small portion of someone else's rotting gate on the way to work.

I said I would look for something prettier for my textural shot today, but this is all I found. It wasn't for want of trying. I was trying so hard that I forgot that I shouldn't in fact have been on my way to work but on my way to a physio appointment.

So much for my 15 minute meditation on improving focus this morning. I knew where I was going when I left the house!
Great bit of texture, isn't it wonderful how photography can take over the important things in our daily life!! Hope you got to physio in time

Hahaha, I can relate, sometimes my car does the driving, I’m sure of it.

Nature has a way of making decay look good. Great texture capture.

@judithdeacon @samae I was just two minutes late. But the physio was twenty minutes late seeing me, so it didn't matter.

Don't feel bad- I find myself doing similar things too. You just have to laugh at yourself and go on to the next thing. And I thought it was perfectly normal to stop and photograph someone's rotting gate. You mean it's not?

I love the texture and composition. Sans camera today, I saw a bit of wooden texture I want to take. Here's hoping I remember where I saw it!

I love this shot and the title. I wouldn't paint it, it has such character as it is.

B&W is perfect for this, with the textures and the different shapes fitting together almost like a puzzle. Quite arty in the best sense!

ha well yes that rotting gatepost always needs to be taken when we're looking for b&w textures :)

Haha, once our mind wanders we go into automatic drive ;)
Great texture find! I can just see you snapping and hurrying off calling "nothing to see here!"
