I missed the early walk slot, so took the opportunity after visiting the butchers, to take a detour route home via the river and boating lake.
At the lake I came upon my first sighting of ducklings this year. There were a family of around nine ducklings, but it was difficult to catch them in a group and they spent most of their time amongst the blue algae. Even with a conversion to black and white, the blue algae looks repulsive and so all of those snaps got discarded. I rather liked the way this little one is peeping round from under the reeds though, as if playing peekaboo.
A neighbour secured me two bags of high quality malted bread flour today. Things are looking up! I shall bake bread rolls tomorrow.
