A is for...Astrolabe

I wasn't deliberately looking for the most obscure object I could find! Honest! It was snowing hard this morning (first day back at school after half-term and the boys were very disgruntled that their schools weren't closed!) so I was searching for something outside in the snow. This was a birthday present from my husband/boys a few years ago and sits in the garden in case I ever need to pop out and check the alignment of the stars...
or arrow :) really nice!

How did you do that fireworks effect in the center of the astrolabe, are those shrubs? Love the photo, but I also really like the astrolabe and would love to see more of the garden around it.

Hi Bettina - yes the 'fireworks' in the middle are shrubs - there's a kind of overgrown yucca thing there. I fiddled around with zoom focus in Piknic to try and blur them out a bit because they looked so straggly - my garden is a mess in the winter - and the fireworky-movement effect was just a lucky accident from doing that - I liked the way it gives a sort of celestial effect, following the arrow up into the sky
