Fields Of Gold

Everywhere the countryside is turning bright golden yellow as the oil seed rape crops come into flower. Went for a walk with two friends and four dogs near Eversden. If I call this a hill you'll know I've lived in Cambridgeshire too long; this is so high above sea level by our standards that we almost needed oxygen!
I'm not sure why the sky looks so grey here, it was actually a lovely sunny morning.
Gorgeous!! I love those fields - the yellow is so yellow! :-)

Call that a hill? Bet it was exhausting climbing to the top, phew! Looks lovely, really intense yellow.

Look at that! Amazing depth of colour. Beautiful.
Thanks for your comment on the silver!

How exquisite! You mention jokingly about needing oxygen at that "altitude", but I look at all those flowers, and think you're in a good place to be oxygenated!

I was thinking as I drove to work with the rape fields all coming into bloom...that will make a good photo!! Beaten me to it! Here in Suffolk we're not quite as advanced....in our flowering that is!!! lol

So beautiful and my first thought was Sting's song of the same name. It's one of my favorites.

Fields of Gold
You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we walk in the fields of gold

So she took her love
For to gaze awhile
Upon the fields of barley
In his arms she fell as her hair came down
Among the fields of gold

Will you stay with me, will you be my love
Among the fields of barley
We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we lie in the fields of gold

See the west wind move like a lover so
Upon the fields of barley
Feel her body rise when you kiss her mouth
Among the fields of gold
I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that I've broken
But I swear in the days still left
We'll walk in the fields of gold
We'll walk in the fields of gold

Many years have passed since those summer days
Among the fields of barley
See the children run as the sun goes down
Among the fields of gold
You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in the fields of gold
When we walked in the fields of gold
When we walked in the fields of gold

Sorry the lyrics took up so much room and they ended up looking weird b/c the formatting disappeared! But they are perfect with this photo (tho I know it is not barley ;-)

Karen, thanks for adding the lyrics - that was exactly the quote I was thinking of when I chose the title! I love the Eva Cassidy cover of this song more than the Sting original.

Love this picture! I just love pictures of fields that go on forever. It reminds me of going out West!

The poem I posted, today, goes better with your photo than with mine!
Such vibrant color and the swooping of the hillside makes interesting shadows.
