We could have gone to a luxurious spa for the weekend or into London for a little shopping and some culture. But no! Where's the excitement in that? Instead, I set off with five fantastic friends to Hilltop Outdoor Adventure Centre in Norfolk for two days of climbing, high ropes, big zippers, assault courses, archery, orienteering...
Between us we have 18 children ranging in age from one to sixteen; we left them all at home with the Dads! Our children have all been to this centre over the years for their residential field trips f and we'd always heard how much fun it was - and so we decided to try it out for ourselves. It couldn't have been better; we had bright sunshine for the entire stay, wonderful food, a lovely, helpful instructor and an evening of wine, snacks and board games (after two hours running around in the woods doing team-building challenges!) I'm not sure what sort of team we made - a very giggly one, I think - but we solved every single challenge (some in ways that had never been attempted before). After the weekend I am aching, but I think most of it is from laughing so much!
PS. The picture showing three of us sitting down is the Super Swing. It is winched up incredibly high into the trees and then released to free-fall and then swing upwards on elastic cords - it's like a cross between bungee jumping and a pirate ship at the funfair. Screeeeaaaaaam!
I love this collage of Friends having Fun together -- this photo is proof that mums are still fun people to know. It sure looks like everyone of you is having a blast.
