Canal Scenes

Travelling by narrowboat is perfect for nosy people like me. Part of the time you are in lovely countryside with swans and herons and moorhens to look at, and the other half, you are going through towns where you can see into people's back gardens and catch glimpses of old fascinating old industrial buildings like this one in Loughborough, which must once have been a factory or warehouse, now sadly derelict; the canals were once the main infrastructure for heavy industry - transporting good and fuel - especially here in the Midlands.
The lines, balance and repetition are great in this- nice shot.

What a gorgeous way to spend a week - mucking about on the water. Love these old buildings and the muddy colours of the reflective canal.

Your shot makes me want to explore that building. I love traveling on rivers slowly, there is always so much to see.

I'm a Loughborough lad by birth and given the name on those buildings I'd suggest they were once used to either build or store cranes (or parts thereof).

Morris Cranes still have a modest manufacturing facility in Loughborough.
