The corn is ripening in the fields.
This is how things SHOULD be; calm, orderly and everything to its season.
Now, back in the real world, I drove to Hardwick and walked the dogs this morning, came home, parked the car in the garage and settled down to work. It was only when I hopped in the car a couple of hours later to run an errand that I realised the dogs were still in the back! Oops! Now I really know I'm losing it! Luckily it's a cool day, the window was open and it's quite a roomy car! They'd just curled up and gone to sleep. I did feel extremely guilty though. Not to mention a little worried about my mental state - I'd even put their food out and not noticed they weren't there to eat it. Oh dear. Maybe I'm getting too old for multi-tasking!
That's so funny about the dogs! Are they such patient and trusting animals! Glad you remembered. I forgot to feed Eliot the other evening and he didn't even murmur! Love the sense of harvest coming with the ripening grain.
The deep pint/red rose is "Fiona" and a bush variety.
(That's not corn, either...) It *is* a lovely picture, gorgeous foreground and lovely DOF... ...I can imagine you were even more surprised than the dogs to find you'd left them in the car! (Big whoopsie!)
Wow, Helen! I stand corrected! Ken jokes with our Australian friends how we're "separated by a common language"...I see it's struck again! (Glad Cindy chimed in and I wasn't standing there alone!)
beautiful...I like the combination of the green with the ripe. Thanks for sharing your story; makes the rest of us feel better knowing that we're not alone.
Beautiful picture....and not to worry, we all have times where we are forgetful. We do try to do too much all at the same time. Just remember to take care of yourself, too!
This is a soothing bucolic photo for sure...and about the dogs...probably just too much going on in your brain today...oh, by the way, wondering if you remembered to get your keys out of the refrigerator too?

Hope it's some comfort to know you aren't the only one who has done this.
Your dog story is really funny. Our dog wouldn't let you forget him - he gets ansty enough if we forget to feed him when HE thinks it's tea time.
