It was another beautiful evening after a damp grey day. We went off to Harlton Wood to play on the rope swings, do some geo-caching and let the dogs have a run around. On the way back I looked out from the edge of the wood to see the cows making a bee-line across the field - probably home for their supper - just as we were, although I don't suppose they were having green chicken curry!
This buccolic scene was accompanied - to slightly surreal effect - by a sound-track of cover versions of Rolling Stones tracks; someone in the village nearby must have hired a (very loud) band for a party!
Maybe that's why the cattle were leaving; the musical tastes of cows generally lean more towards Country and Western than Rock, I believe. Nevertheless, even with If You Start Me Up in the background, it was still a very peaceful scene!
This is lovely, and I'm glad you had the chance to capture a photo of it. I saw a similar scene on the outskirts of town here, but it seems there's no good pplace to pull off the road for a photo. I'll keep yours and pretend it's my summer memory, too!
Lovely rural scene Helen.Hope you didn't have a go on the rope swing again? I remember when I went with you one time you said it felt like you had pulled your arms out of their sockets.By the way cows love the Rolling Stones.
No, I didn't go on the swing this time, but Mac did! And so did Storm, of course! I nearly put a picture of him on instead - trying to do his Tarzan impression - but they were all a bit out of focus - he was moving so much - and I was laughing at him!
wow, what a beautiful composition. I love the church spire in the grey background and the wonderful contrast of the sunlit green and the dark city scape. Wonderful job.
This is sort of my fantasy of an English countryside...I love knowing the "back story!" I sometimes experiment with different kinds of music in the barn for the horses. I haven't tried the Stones, but they do seem to like Bob Dylan!
