No, we're not entertaining octogenarian royalty! And I don't suppose the duke has to carry his own backpack either. Ed is going off on a weekend hiking and camping trip with his school as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award.
This photo is obviously badly out of focus and the black and white does nothing to hide that fact, but it was taken on the run this morning as I was piling everyone into the car (the kids usually take a bus to school but I made an exception for the backpack!). Ed's expression reads "Mum, why are you stopping to take a photo now when you've been hassling me all morning to hurry up?"
I can see what you mean about Ed's expression ! keeping him standing there with that load on his back, I hope he has a good week end , the forcast isn't too good
HA I do love the expression having had a teenage boy myself :) The black and white works well and I hope Ed has a fab time. Rhiannon would like to do her DofE when shes old enough. Where is Ed going Helen?
Duke of Ed big here too. Was at a freinds for coffee, before calving so a life time ago, and their daughter was presented hers by one of the HRHs, which is a treat for us colonials.
