Remembrance Day by helenmoss

Remembrance Day

This was the scene in the market square in Cambridge as I walked to the library. A crack of gunfire and then two minutes' silence. There are not many people out on this raw blustery morning, but those who are, stop in their tracks. The waiters at this Italian restaurant have all come out and are standing next to me shivering in their thin white shirts, heads down.
I am so pleased to hear that reaction - that people of different nations stood together and paid homage to those who gave so much. It is really heartening that we do this. Thank you for sharing this.
