Another in the series of My Favourite Christmas Decorations. We made this nativity scene when the boys were very small. The stable was recycled from an an old bird-box, and the figures are all little off-cuts of wood customised with scraps of fabric and cotton wool. The odd animal on the far right (of the picture, not politically, at least as far as I know!) is a camel, who has lost his humps. He's with the wise men. There are also some sheep and a donkey, three shepherds, Mary, Joseph, the innkeeper, an angel and of course baby Jesus in the manger (slightly obscured by some over enthusiastic "straw" here). My favourite part is the faces the boys (they must only have been about 2 and 4) drew on some of the figures. Mary has a lovely expression halfway between bliss and befuddlement, which seems perfect for the occasion, and the angel has a slight air of "told you so" in that big smile!
Oh I like this, I want to make one, now!! Amy and Beth made lots of angels when they were little to hang on the tree, they are now falling to pieces and some are headless, I'll have to see if we can repair them!
