I took this photo this afternoon while walking the dogs in Madingley. A new wood was planted last year as part of the 800th anniversary of Cambridge University. The trees are still little sprigs of things wrapped in their rabbit-proof tubing, but there is a gentle mound with a view to the north-east. Apparently you can see Ely cathedral on a clear day.
It's now almost 11 pm. I thought I had a peaceful evening to get some work done after I dropped Will off at scouts. But I got home to a message to say he'd somehow impaled his knee on the corner of something. They thought I should take him to A & E to have it looked at. Luckily they'd put a dressing on it by the time I got back to scouts so I didn't have to see any gory bits (blood is not my strong-point!) although Will enjoyed telling me that you could see the bone of the kneecap if you looked inside the wound. I decided to pass on that one. After a long wait, the nice nurses at the hospital patched him up with special glue and tape and told him not to bend his leg for a few days. That means I'll be driving to school and I have a feeling his team might be short of a goal-keeper for their cup match on Saturday. My next job is to break that news to the coach!
That bench in its little patch of tranquility looks very inviting all of a sudden.
Ooh - I bet that's sore this morning. Definitely best not to look - Adam came home with a spectacular elbow which is what happens when you do rugby training on an astro. Not a hospital job luckily but I nearly got my camera out! Looking forward to that nice bench when you finished that book!!
Oh dear, poor Will, but bet he enjoyed peering into his knee cap! Arg, I was hopeless too when Beth had the first cast replaced on her broken leg,I very nearly fainted!Hope they find another goalie!
@snowy funnily enough they haven't asked me to stand in for him in goals yet - probably based on my performance in the parents vs boys match last year - I had a few Rob Green moments!
