I popped into WH Smith while I was in town today to check out the pre-teen girl magazine racks - not for a little light reading or to catch up on the latest Cheryl Cole gossip, but to see my very own literary offering. Superstar High Book 1 is on the cover of Goodie Bag magazine as a free gift. I suspect the fact that the publisher is giving them away is a sign they have not exactly made the best-seller lists, but they're also trying to drum up some new readers as Book 3 and 4 will be coming out this Spring....so if you know any little girls between about 7 and 12 who love all things glam and stage-schooly (think Glee meets Ballet Shoes!) please do rush to Amazon and buy buy buy! You won't find them under my name though - I ghost-wrote them under the name Isabella Cass. Isabella is my alter-ego. You won't find her walking dogs, mucking out henhouses, loading the washing machine or watching football! She's much too sparkly for all that! She's been out having her nails done today while I was working!
excellent i have another five years or so till i guess i'll have to buy this sort of thing cant imagine what sort of number superstar high book you'll be on by then. thanks for sharing your photos and all the very best for the future.
We must have met Isabella on the 365 meet then! Didn't know you were a secret writer|! Well done for spotting it...but I can see you love these pre-teen mags or else why would you be there lol????
"I very often pick up my 13 year old daughters books and flip through them, but this was the first time I didn't put the book down until I'd finished it! Superstar high is a double figures/ young teenagers book, in a deliciously Enid Blyton meets high school musical style with a wry sense of humour thrown in. The book tells the story of three girls, Belle, Holly and Cat who have been chosen from thousands to attend the Garrick school of performing arts, aka superstar high. We follow their adventures through their first year as they tackle all the performing arts lessons, normal school lessons and the tricky art of teenage social interaction. In this first book among many things they put together a girl band for a talent competition and audition for parts in Shakespears' McBeth; oh and of course no book like this would be complete without a little romance! This is a great book for any 10-13 year old, but I recommend any mum buying it as a present buys it well in advance because once you child gets reading, you won't get a look in. "
Sounds like a winner to me!
@allie912 That is so kind of you to copy that review here - I couldn't have done it myself with it looking very like blowing my own trumpet! I should clarify that the Superstar High books 1 and 2 haven been out for quite a while now - the new part here was the freebie on the magazine - which is being done in advance of the two new ones coming out in Spring (I hope) I actually finished writing them some time ago and there has been a bit of a delay getting them out...my new series will be out in August - already up on Amazon for pre-order for anyone super-keen - they are called Adventure Island.
