In honour of Mother's Day I trawled through some old albums looking for a nice picture Mum and me together. I've realised there aren't all that many because one or other of us is usually the one behind the camera. I've always liked this one, snapped on my wedding day twenty-one years ago, as we chatted on the window seat after the ceremony, waiting for the guests to arrive at the reception. Maybe Mum was giving me some handy hints for married life (always let them think they're right, that kind of thing). More likely we were just having a well-earned rest. It was a do-it-yourself kind of wedding; Mum had made the beautiful cake, and we'd spent the day before the wedding doing all the flowers (which looked lovely, though I say so myself). Happy Mother's Day, Mum.
I was very lucky too. My boys (with a bit of help from Mac) cooked me a lovely three course dinner tonight!
