Crown Imperial by helenmoss

Crown Imperial

It was a gorgeous sunny Spring morning so I cycled into Cambridge and had a wander around the beautiful botanic gardens. The magnolias were magnificent, but I especially loved these crown imperials with their tango-orange flowers and those leaves on top like a shock of hair standing on end.

After admiring the plants I retired to the very stylish new cafe in the gardens, and armed with a cup of tea and a piece of cake, opened a new blank Word file on my laptop and typed, 'Chapter One'. Book Seven of the Adventure Island series started today....
This is a stunner Helen! We grew some of these until the builders dumped concrete on them when building our patio. Very smelly if I remember rightly. Congrats on Chapter One - did you type anything after the title? ;0)

They are really beautiful. Do you find that they have a foul smell to them? All I have smelled had a skunk odor to them. I have actually heard them referred to as "skunk flower."
The shot, however, is gorgeous! I love how you've captured the light hitting the blossoms and the crown.
