When it's January and you've got a full-box-of-mansize-tissues-a-day cold, trudging round waterlogged fields in the rain isn't necessarily the Number One choice of activity for the morning. But dogs have no time for such feeble wussiness. So it's wellies on and off we go in the driving rain. I'm not planning on enjoying it, but as always, after a few minutes, the fresh air does its magic and I'm feeling a whole lot better. And then, the sun somehow battles through the sludge-grey cloud blanket, and the the rain eases to a sparkly drizzle, and then not one, but two rainbows. Here Storm comes running back to tell me in case I miss it.
By the time I got home, the sun had given up on the idea of coming out and was replaced by a horizontal hail storm. I took pity on Ed having to cycle to school and gave him a lift.
