A trip into Cambridge with the usual kind of shopping list . . . headtorch, tracksuit bottoms for teenage boy, freezer bags, eyeliner, onions . . . Obvs I also had to call into my favourite bookshop, Heffers. I needed to buy the new novels by Andrew Marr, Ali Smith and Sophie Hannah ahead of going to their talks as part of the Cambride Literary Festival (they're all still in hardback - oops!). I was excited and suprrised to see that The Phoenix Code is featured in their 'children's paperbacks of 2014' promotion - as seen here in the window display (hard to see but it's second from left on bottom row!). Also in the selection, the brilliant 1930s-style boarding school mystery, Murder Most Unladylike by my friend Robin Stevens. My picture of the poster has been photobombed by some old building or other reflected in the window (oh okay, I'll forgive Trinity College, looking honey-toned and gorgeous against the blue blue sky on a sparkling sunny morning)
I always look in Heffers window for your books - didn't look hard enough at the poster! Quite right too - I see it's got 5 stars on Amazon! Actually - are you going to write one about the Amazon?!
thank you - yes, only a few reviews so far but all very lovely (no malicious rants yet, I must be doing something wrong!) - next book is Mexico. After that, who knows!
Love, love, love a book shop but never seem to have the time to spend long enough in them. This is a new name for me.....Heffers.....great adverts in the window....yours must be there if I could see properly!
