Father Christmas very kindly brought me some new trail running trainers so that I can run across the muddy fields as well as along the roads. He did have a little help with the selection as I left him a wish list in the running shop - so he can't be held fully responsible for the retro fuschia pink, mustard yellow and sky blue colour combo - this was actually fairly subtle compared to other options on offer. After a few miles on Cambridge lay they'll soon be a uniform mud brown. I tried them out today. They were very comfortable but I could definitely feel the effect of a surfeit of mince pies.
