I took the 80D out today with the EF-S 15-85mm lens. I'm surprised at how decent it is at close-ups. (luckily I don't have any side effects from the covid shot :-)
Wonderful shot and lovely detail. It is so good to hear and see, I just upgraded to the 80D and collected my 15-18 lens today! Which mode did you shoot in? I would appreciate any tips you have Helge as this is a whole new ballpark for me. Also good to hear that you have no side effects :-)

@ludwigsdiana I used to shoot exclusively in aperture priority (Av) for a long time (it was the only semi-auto mode my old Olympus film camera had :-) but I switched to full manual (M) a few years ago. These days I'm more adventurous, I still shoot mostly in M mode if I have time to adjust all the settings on the camera. If not I will shoot in Av mode. If I do birding, action shooting or some street shooting I will use shutter priority (S) and set a minimum shutter speed and use auto ISO. The only (general) tip I have is to "stop down" the aperture if you have enough light. Most lenses are sharpest between f5.6 and f8 so it is often better to increase ISO and use an aperture in that range to get a sharper photo (unless you want very shallow DOF of course :-).

@helstor365 Thanks Helge, that is very helpful. Did you change any settings on your camera or do you use the default settings. It is all a bit intimidating when I watch YouTube videos.
