A bit of info about yesterday's redbusch tea pic:
Rooibos (REDBUSCH) is becoming more popular in Western countries, particularly among health-conscious consumers, due to its high level of antioxidants such as aspalathin[3] and nothofagin, its lack of caffeine, and its low tannin levels compared to fully oxidized black tea or unoxidized green tea leaves. Rooibos also contains a number of phenolic compounds, including flavanols, flavones, flavanones, and dihydrochalcones.
Rooibos is purported to assist with nervous tension, allergies and digestive problems.
Two rooibos flavonoids, quercetin and luteolin have been known to have cancer fighting qualities . Also, rooibos is one of only a handful of plants in the world to contain EGCG which is a potent antioxidant which can decrease heart disease risk .
Traditional medicinal uses of rooibos in South Africa include alleviating infantile colic, allergies, asthma and dermatological problems.
I love the colour layers here. I'll have to go looking for my rooibos tea to test it for my allergies. Thanks for the info. I hadn't realised it was the same as what I'd heard as 'redbush' tea on "The no.1 ladies detective agency"!
Wonderful and soft picture! Ja wij drinken ook Rooibos hier, lekker! Mijnopa nam het altijd mee uit Suid-Afrika, wij hebben nog verre familie daar wonen.
Hettie, thank you for th einfo. I may need to investigate that for my Wife. She is always looking for teas to help with digestion, and this sounds like it could be interesting, at least worth a try.
Beautiful colors and serene shot. Thank you for the information on the tea. I will ask about this tea at my local health foods store. If they don't have this tea, I know the owner will research it and then stock it.
