Aftermath of Irene by hjbenson

Aftermath of Irene

On August 28, 2011 Hurricane Irene made landfall in Southern Jersey. Six months later we still have bridges out and the forests will take years to recover. These trees were toppled to the wind and rain from that hurricane

We had a huge windstorm a few years back that did some heavy damage to the old growth trees in Stanley Park and we can still see the devastation. But it was nothing like Irene so I can only imagine!

@pwallis Thank you Paula, both times I have been in Vancouver I have enjoyed going to Stanley Park

The windstorms do a bad number on the forests. My own land looks even worse than that from last April's tornado.

Nice composition. Takes a while to get back to normal after any heavy storm or disaster. One step at a time.

@vernabeth Thank you Beth, tornadoes where they touch down do a lot more damage
@jeancarl Thank you Jean, I know it takes a while and I hope in the spring we see new growth
