@shadesofgrey had given a link in a discussion for an adapter for Canon so you can use your old lens on the newer DSLRs, he also mentioned that their was an inexpensive lens extension tube that could also be purchased; since I decided to try more macros I ordered one and it came today. So here is my next macro shot and to do it in a low light situation.
When Gail & I got engaged, I did not give her an engagement ring, but surprised her with one that Christmas. I lite a candle on the dining room table and asked Gail to come over to take a macro of the ring. I like both the colour and the B&W so I am posting them both. Which do you prefer? Best Viewed Large.

This is a darn close shot! I think I like this one a little better, doesn't look as much out of focus...sorry, it is a little out of focus, have to be honest. :)
@brumbe Paula, you can google 'estell manor park' the second link on my screen is 'Estell Manor Park Trail System - Atlantic County Government' this link produces the map of the park.
@kimmistephens Thank you Kimmi, it shows the sparkle better @maggiemae Thank you Maggie, when doing a macro the DoF might be to limited for a diamond. @crickle1969 Thank you Crickle, I always thought so :)
@kerristephens Thank you Kerri, and I picked it out without Gail's help (I had known that she liked a solitaire and plain setting) @myhrhelper thank you Kathy, a lot of times I ask Gail to decide which one to put up :) @marilyn Thank you Marilyn, I like that I can see the blue from the candle
@karenann Thank you Karen, Gail liked it right from the begining, I guess I choose well @webfoot Thank you Paul, I liked how it came out here @grannysue Thank you Linda, I have always liked this ring
These ring shots are cool Harry! I definitely think you are getting there on the macros. Lots of light, that's the ticket, lots and LOTS. Most of the time, when I do mine, it's under the tabletop studio lighting that I have, or in the windowsill with the full afternoon sun coming in. The more light you have, the smaller you can go with your aperture, and you get a better DOF!
@beautifulthing Thank you Shelly, it was my first attempt with an extension tube and I wanted to try with candle light for the flicker, but you are right I should have had a lot more candles :) @peterdegraaff Thank you Peter, the setting sets off the stone well
@orangecrush Thank you Jerry, I am enjoying the challenges that you gave us @bruni Thank you Bruni, I have always enjoyed this ring and felt I really did good :)
