Wakerley Kilns

These kilns built by German POWs in 1915, built to reduce iron ore by by the process of calcination so there was less bulk to transport to Corby steel work's. But apparently never used.
They are on outskirts of the village of Barrowden in Rutland, east midlands. Barrowden means burial mound hill, there a number of them in the area.
