The puzzle: traveling through life by homeschoolmom

The puzzle: traveling through life

This morning, my sons' Boy Scout Troop visited a day school as part of their Disabilities Awareness Merit Badge. We met many fascinating people with a variety of disabilities, ranging from mild to very severe, physical to mental. They were there to learn traditional school subjects like math and art and occupational subjects like sign language and life skills. Most of them were there to receive some sort of physical therapy. Whatever their need was, they were adding pieces to their puzzles, enhancing their travel through life. They were a colorful, enthusiastic group, so I thought that one of my pictures from their school would be great for the ETSOOI challenge.
Absolutely love what the puzzle pieces represent! This is very nicely done and I love the bright and vibrant colors.

I love what you did, and so neat that they particiapted in that activity. As our kids grew up I had them invovled in all kinds of my work so they would be exposed to the full spectrum of life

Sometimes seeing the challenges that others face really helps to put perspective on your own challenges. This was a great activity for the troop to take part in. Crazy editing- but fun!

Fabulous shot. It is good that the Boy Scouts still do outreach activities like this for their merit badges.

Love the metaphor of the incredible puzzle and I think we should remember that we all have some missing pieces - and I'm not being flippant. Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely awesome!! This hits home for me since my baby who just turned 19 is severely autistic. Autism is represented by the puzzle piece.

This is beautiful and my first thought also was the puzzle piece which also represents autism. What program did you use to make the photo into a puzzle. Fav for me.

Very nice capture and processing, but even better the opportunity given to those Boy Scouts to have a rounded concept of society.

@linc Thanks!
@triciakano I used Picasa. It's a free program. Thanks so much for the FAV!
@anazad511 Thanks. One of their leaders works there, so it gave them a great opportunity to see one of these facilities and the work they do.
