A view of the new World Trade Center, Freedom Tower, being built in New York City. The tree you see is in the yard of a nearby church. The church, tree and small cemetery survived the attack that day and was used as a shelter for first responders. I took this picture in May when we visited NYC. I posted it today to remind us all to never forget the events of that day.
I remember visiting St Paul's Chapel where they had various displays relating to that dreadful day. A very moving experience that brought everyone there to tears. A wonderfully symbolic image Lisa, fav.
I was in NY for exactly three years ago, St. Paul's had Ribbons of Remembrance with a text "Remember to Love". Something that we should remember every day...
@michaelelliott Thanks. It was my first trip to NYC. I was really glad to see that the area around Ground Zero was revitalized. I would love to see it completely finished one day. The subway station was still under construction, but it looks like it's going to be fantastic when completed.
@swilde It's a fabulous building at 1776 feet high. Actually, I didn't realize until we watched a documentary on the new building last night, but they other three buildings around it are new also, all a part of the World Trade Center complex.
@tracynugent Thanks! @thistle I'm glad we found the church. I can't imagine what it looked like without the buildings. @carolmw Thanks so much for the FAV!
Great composition here.
@kwind We wandered upon the church while waiting for our time to go to the 9-11 memorial. It is definitely a must see spot.
@hoosierhokie Thanks, so exciting. I've made the popular page twice this week! I think that's a new record.
@thistle I'm glad we found the church. I can't imagine what it looked like without the buildings.
@carolmw Thanks so much for the FAV!
