Good Night, Moon! by homeschoolmom

Good Night, Moon!

For My Favorite Pictures in a Collage challenge Night. Some of these were taken in NH, some in NC, but all were taken on different nights.

@kareenking Thanks so much for the FAV!
@taffy @skstein @digitalrn @bill_fe @linnypinny Thanks!
@tremerryn Mine used to also. You have to speed up the shutter until you get a good picture. A good zoom helps, too.

I love how you have put this collage together. Great moon shots, I could do with some lessons in photographing the moon.

@elaine55 It's actually easier than you think. Because it's dark outside, an auto setting will be fooled into a slow shutter, which will give you a bright blob for a moon. So, you have to do a manual setting to speed up your shutter. I think I shot this at ISO 80, with a shutter speed of 200. That usually works pretty well for me, but each camera and moon is different. My camera isn't a DSLR, so I use my full zoom (for my camera that's a 42x) and put the focus on macro. I also have a burst feature that will take three shots with the shutter one slower and one faster. I just keep adjusting until I get what I want.

@homeschoolmom Thanks very much Lisa, there was a full moon when I was on a Canon Walk but had gone behind the clouds before I had chance to use a big zoom lens. I will do it one day hopefully.
