The birthday boy goes to the zoo! by homeschoolmom

The birthday boy goes to the zoo!

Since my kids were little, we always took the day off from school and went to the zoo for their birthday. As teenagers, they still want to do that. It was our first time going to the NC Zoo in Ashboro. It's a really nice zoo. Quite huge. I think we walked at least 4 miles or more in the zoo. But, we had a great time. Even though we went to the zoo on Friday, his birthday is actually today. I officially have 3 teenagers in my house. Oh, my!
Looks like you guys had a great day.

@melpitts It's not quite as good as the St. Louis Zoo, but it was pretty close. Not quite the variety of animals, but a bigger park. Absolutely wore us out. Course, we always came home from STL Zoo worn out, too. They didn't have a train, though. They had a "tram" which was really a bus.

What a special tradition - so cool that they are still wanting to continue. Nice set of images to remember the day.

I'll be thinking of you with three teenagers! I only had two and look at all my white hairs! Love the collage of the zoo. Dave and I love to visit them. My favourite so far was the one in San Diego. I also love Colchester Zoo where we are platinum card holders. It's a small local zoo that has featured on TV over here.

@jgpittenger @carolmw @maggiemae Thanks!
@ceilidh The San Diego Zoo is supposed to be the #1 zoo, so it's on our bucket list. We used to live close to the St. Louis Zoo and it's fabulous, too, if you are ever in that area (supposed to be the best free zoo in the world. Marlin Perkins from the old Wild Kingdom TV shows was once it's curator),
