Autumn in the South

The magnolia fruits and ripening, turning pink to brown, then they will drop their bright red seeds, which are about the size of a kidney bean, except very shiny and bright red. These trees are evergreen and keep their big, waxy leaves all winter. They shed some of their leaves in the summer when they are in bloom with giant magnolia blossoms.
They are a fascinating tree- and so aromatic! Nice close-up.

@olivetreeann Thanks! I love these trees. Sadly, they didn't bloom that much this summer. It was way too hot and too dry, I think. They bloomed a lot more last summer.

@sangwann The flowers are gorgeous and huge, about the size of a dinner plate. But, the trees are so big, that they really don't stand out as much as I thought they would, and each bloom really only lasts about 24 hours. You have to get up close to enjoy them.
