This is the full view of our German Christmas pyramid. It's slightly more than 2 feet high. We don't have the candles in the holders on the bottom (I don't think we've ever put candles in it. I don't think we have candles to fit it. Probably weren't allowed to ship the candles back to the U.S. in our household goods back in 1994, which is why we don't have them). Heat from the candles make the blades at the top turn, which also turns figures inside. The bottom layer has the three wise men that circle palm trees. The middle layer has the manger scene, and it is circled by the shepherd and sheep. The third layer has more shepherds and angles. And on top are angles playing trumpets. I believe we bought this at Kaethe Wohlfart (a Christmas store) in Rothenburg in the early 1990s.
My grandmother had a little one story one she got in Germany one year. She did put candles in, but since it was only 1 level, the propellor blades got a little, um, charred. Altho the heat did make it spin!
It's very pretty Lisa, shame you don't have the candles. We treated ourselves to a carved wooden nativity scene as a reminder of our three years in Germany when the children were small. Love to get it out each year and remember our happy time there.
@randystreat Yes, it does. One of our favorite Christmas decorations.
@juliedduncan I will try to get some candles.
