Got Pizza from Vito's, which was voted best pizza in Clarksburg, WV, where I grew up. Oh, my. I haven't been eating pizza lately. I never like it any more. I thought it was just my tastes changing. No, the pizza is just not good outside Clarksburg.
I feel that way about hoagies. The ones I grew up with are the best, but I'm teaching the local Subway staff how to put them together so they come close to the memories in my head.
@randystreat When we lived in IL, I tried to convince the local Subway to just sell me some of their Italian rolls to use with my hoagies, but they wouldn't do it. But, where I grew up, hoagies are hot sandwiches. My favorite is a deer steak hoagie with thinly sliced deer steak, bell peppers in tomato sauce (known as Oliverio peppers where I grew up), lots of mozzarella cheese, then toasted in the oven.
