This weekend, we drove to Chicago and then to Indianapolis area for retirement parties of two of my husband's very close friends. This is Jack, his roommate when they were in Iraq in 2011. Notice Jack is holding a trash can. That's the retirement gift we bought him. One night while they were under mortar attack, they rolled out of their bunks and under their beds. Jack, who is very OCD, yelled back at my husband, "Dave, where's the trash can?" because my hubby had moved it up by the head of his bead after taking Ibuprofen on an empty stomach. So, they often laugh about that. And, of course, Dave had to tell the story along with many other stories of their adventures together. Hence, the title, another joke about Battle Buddies. Strange, we've only known Jack and his family since late 2010, but they seem like family now.
