The Andy Griffith Show was a part of my childhood, was for many American kids growing up in the 60s abd 70s. Barney Fife, played by Don Knotts who is from my home state of WV, was always going to Mt. Pilot or Raleigh. Mayberry is the fictional version of Mt. Airy, NC, and nearby is Pilot Mountain (i.e. Mt. Pilot). It's all just 2 hours from our house (except for Raleigh, which is just an hour from us and where we go when we want to hit the mall for some retail therapy).
