Floating stairs

These floating stairs are in the Tryon Palace and were built based on the original blue prints. Although, because the house was rebuilt in 1950, they were engineered to be safe even after thousands of visitors each year. I must say, I loved them. They are based on a cantalever system.

They look beautiful. There are a set of twin cantilevered stairs in the capitol building in Montgomery Al. built by a freed slave. I wonder if he built these as well
