I was out on the back patio chatting with Chris on the phone when I noticed this feather in the grass by the bird feeder. I really like how it's all feathery (hee!) at the quill end and all smooth and precise towards the tip. I think this is a Mourning Dove's feather because it's the right color and was a couple of inches long; that's too big and the wrong color for the wrens and finches that normally visit the feeder. Oh, and we've seen several doves lately because the smaller birds have been knocking the seed out of the feeder in their haste to get what's there. This feather blew away in the breeze shortly after I'd snapped a few pictures and I was glad that this one came out so clear.
