Boxes in the Snow

This is a good start Kathryn. I think your problem here is contrast. Contrast is affected by lighting. This is where playing with your exposure will help to either lessen or heighten the contrast. This shot has a flat appearance to it because there is not a lot of contrast. I think the subject and composition is good- so if I was to tell you to do anything, I'd say put it into your photo-processing program and play around with the contrast to see how you can add in some shadows and darker areas. It will also separate the snow on top of the blocks from the snow behind it. I like the shapes in this- and the way the snow is drifted around the boxes. Don't give up on yourself! Keep trying- you'll get it!
