The End of the Rose

214 / 365
As Winter sets in in Southern New England I want to be able to do some table top shooting to keep me out of the cold. Yesterday's 'Brussels Sprouts' posting and today's 'Rose' are the first attempts to hide from the elements and shoot in the cave.
...hibernating in Southern Connecticut, USA (Pentax K5) Please say what you will.

Simple. Beautiful. Love the hint of reflection!

@hown - haha I meant real enough for me to touch - almost 3-D coming out of the screen. Either that or I'm operating on 2 hour sleep.

Beautiful, just beautiful

Great shot Howard, would love to know how you did it, is the effect in the processing or the shooting?

Poor old rose...

I do think they have a lovely look as they are dying.

@judithdeacon I have to say probably the shooting and the set up rather than the processing. Used two soft white 60w lamps in clamp lights on either side of the rose which was resting on a 12x12 black granite tile and had a black soft fabric background. Had to fool with the lights quite a bit. Did not use the camera flash or off camera flash. Camera was on tripod and used manual focus and a cable release. Post was just the frame from piknic. And the rose was a week and a half old!!! Hope that helps.

This is beautiful! Funny finding it on the PP today, because this is exactly the shot I had in my head to try today!! Then I forgot my rose at home, so maybe tomorrow. (I'm in southern CT too, so it must be the weather)
