2020 - Feb 18 - Dogs on Call

"The Center for Human-Animal Interaction is a non-profit organization dedicated to improved health and well-being through interaction with companion animals. Our interdisciplinary clinical, research, and educational programs are made possible by the generosity of our supporters and volunteers." ~ Nancy R. Gee, PhD, Director of the Center at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Today the Center brought 5 of their "Dogs on Call" service dogs to the General Assembly. Several of us "snuck" away from our desks to visit with the dogs. Nancy Gee spoke with my co-worker, Julie, and I about the program. Hearing just a couple of her stories about what a difference these dogs can make in the day of a sick child or an older person in palliative care, was enough to convince us of how valuable this interaction between humans and dogs can be.
