The unlit candles on the base of Philippines' Historic Landmark,the Magellan's Cross, are prayers offered by people visiting the chapel. Each color has its own meaning.Before leaving the candles, vendors perform the Sinug, a rite that is similar to dance steps during the Sinulog Festival. The vendors move their feet two steps forward and one step backward while waving the candles and chanting prayers.
