The title La Virgen Gloriosa finds its origin to the 4th Century prayer to the Blessed Virgen Mar, and was long used in both Eastern and Western rites.The Sub Tuum Praesidium, like all liturgical prayers has noble simplicity and conciseness of expression. The supplication to the Virgin Mary, as glorious and blessed, recalls the salutation of Angel Gabrieland Saint Elizabeth to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
This particular image of La Virgen Gloriosa (The Glorious Virgin) is annually brought out for procession every Easter Sunday in Brgy. Ugong Pasig City.
