55 Degrees Celsius, Valley Of The Queens, Luxor

This photo was taken within the Deir el-Bahari complex, the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, in The Valley of the Queens, Luxor, Egypt.

The photo features a workman hiding from the sun. That day, in the noon-day sun, the temperature was 55 degress Celsius (131 degrees Fahrenheit). Basically it was hot !!!

The Valley of the Queens is a place in Egypt where wives of Pharaohs were buried in ancient times. The valley is located near the better known Valley of the Kings, on the west bank of the Nile across from Thebes (modern Luxor).
Interesting effect, Steven. I like the way the sun is strreaming in and throwing those shadows!

Delicate moody shot. I think it's a lovely composition, full of angles, yet it's uncluttered and entices the viewer to look more deeply.
