Science project

Out of about 15 caterpillars we had 2 pupa's not turning into butterflies. Finally we found the time to open up and had a close look at these pupa's. One just rotted inside, but the second one was a little open and totally dried out. Everything crumbled off, so first we tried to get it soft with water. That didn't work. Alcohol however did work and we could nice learn how the wings are totally folded inside a pupa.
I put this under the January word changes. These caterpillars got through so many changes...
Sad they didn't make it but 13/15 is pretty good. What type of butterfly are they are Ingrid?

Very cool experiment! Wish I had life lessons like this in school rather than just book work.
Very neat collage to see the process.
