When I got the email that my flight was cancelled the next day, I went on the phone as soon as possible. While I was waiting I packed my suitcases and was ready to go a day early.
Unfortunately that flight was full (maybe more people had the same idea?)
If I didn't fly with a dog in the hold I could have left on the same day and still had made my connection, but I found out that only a few airlines take dogs. And if they take dogs, it can only on certain days due to the fact that not all planes have climate control in the hold.
We had to wait 5 days :(
